US Indo-Pacific strategy: Delhi not vexed by Asean stance

Asean’s reluctant embrace of Washington’s Indo-Pacific strategy does not surprise India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

This approach to the Asia-Pacific, minted by the Trump administration, sees China as a strategic competitor and associates its growing profile in the region with destabilising behaviour such as militarisation of disputed maritime territories in the South China Sea.
