This year kicked off with two policy risks – the hawkish stance the United States Federal Reserve adopted to guard against rising inflation and the escalating trade dispute between the US and China.
Fortunately for investors, the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) rallied when both these risks started to fade. It closed at 3,347.58 points on Thursday, up 9.1 per cent from the start of this year.
