Indonesia election: PKS may have gained support from disbanded Islamic group, say experts

JAKARTA • Decent gains made by the Islamic-leaning Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) in the legislative elections have raised eyebrows – not only because of the internal bickering among its leaders, but also because it was the only Islamic party that performed well.

PKS garnered 8.6 per cent of votes, according to unofficial quick counts, compared with the 6.8 per cent it received in the 2014 polls.
